My thoughts on what's new in beauty, woc beauty blogger

If you follow the beauty industry closely, then you know that new releases are happening all the time.  So let's discuss what new products are on my radar this week.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed - Own Your Light limited edition 2020

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed - Own Your Light (Limited Edition), $38.00:  You can always count on Becca Cosmetics to release highlighters.  According to the brand's video on their shimmering skin perfector line, it is the number 1 selling highlighter in the US.  I think Becca does a beautiful job formulating products, so if this color speaks to you, I don't think you'd be disappointed in the purchase. I've tried their highlighters in the past and the quality is very nice but was always a but too much for my taste.  GlamGirlChelsea showed a swatch of this shade in a live chat she did and although she said it looks good on the skin, it looked lighter and pinker than I typically prefer, so I don't think I'd like this shade on my skin tone.  If you are a lighter skin tone, Mel Thompson also used this in a recent video as well.

Makeup Revolution Glow Splendour Bronzer Medium Dark

Makeup Revolution Splendor Matte Bronzer, $12.00:  A new drugstore bronzer option is always good to see, especially considering the 6 color shade range.   They have added a pineapple fragrance which may be nice for some, but I skip fragranced products, so this one isn't for me.  Product photos can be deceiving, but the light shade doesn't look all that light to me.  There are other options available for fair skin, but this looks to me like it might be made for more medium, tan, and deep skin tones.  If you do have a deeper skin tone and want to see this product in action please check out Andrea Renee on Youtube, she recently featured this bronzer (shade dark) in a video.

Real Techniques Cashmere Dreams Powder Brush

Real Techniques Cashmere Dreams Powder Brush, $12.99:  Real Techniques makes some of the best synthetic brushes on the market.  As long as you like the designs they come out with, you will not be disappointed with the performance of their brushes.  I've only seen this new line of brushes on the Ulta website so far.  They have released 6 single face brushes, an eyeshadow brush set, and a duo sponge set, all available now on ulta.com.  The only claim these seem to have is that they give a "cashmere soft finish."  It remains to be seen what that actually means.  I could definitely make room in my brush stash for a powder brush.  I also love trying blush brushes, but I have so many that I probably need to resist that one.

Sigma Cor-de-Rosa Eyeshadow Palette

Sigma Beauty Cor-de-Rosa Eyeshadow Palette, $49.00:  I'm pretty sure this is still a fairly new release.  I've seen it before but when I was watching EmilyNoel83's April 2020 Favorites, it caught my eye differently.  I'm a big fan of Sigma's brushes, but I've never tried any of their makeup products.  I was pretty set on buying it until I went to the Sigma website and saw that it is $49.00.  I've definitely spent the same and more on eyeshadow before, so I'm not sure why that caught me off guard.  Maybe just because in my head Sigma is a brush brand, so I expected the makeup to cost less.  It does come with a dual-ended brush which should be excellent quality coming from this brand, so I guess I have to consider that in the price point.  I also find myself shying away from large palettes these days, so maybe it's not the best thing for me even if it was less money.

MAC Bronzer Foiled Eyeshadow Monaco-co Summer 2020

MAC Bronzing Foiled Eyeshadow in Monaco-co, $26.00:  MAC Summer has arrived at Ulta.com.  The collection is called the bronzing collection and has a range of lip glosses, lipsticks, eyeshadows, bronzers, liquid highlighters, a bronzing version of Fix Plus, and a brush.  I like the packaging design, but I'm not sure how I'm feeling about the actual products this time around.  I'm not really excited about any of the lipstick shades and I have my doubts about the darker bronzing working for women of color.  I do like a couple of the foiled eyeshadow shades but I tend to like more traditional pressed powder eyeshadows over baked gelee formulas like this one seems to be.
