MAC Eyeshadow Swatches Vol 3

MAC Eyeshadow Contrast, Deep Truth, Indian Ink, Blackberry, Shadowy Lady, Plumage

MAC eyeshadows don't typically swatch well, so keep in mind that these will show you the color but you really need to apply these to see how they work.  It is true for every eyeshadow that a swatch doesn't tell you how it will perform, but I wanted to make specific mention of it here because the MAC classic shadow formula can really come off looking terrible in swatches.

MAC Contrast - So far, I have not had success getting this shadow to work for me.  I've tried different brushes and my fingers and I'm always disappointed with the pigment.  It does seem to work better over a base, but it is still a bit fussy to make it worth that trouble.  I also own MAC's Spellbinder Shadow in Retrograde (was limited edition) and that gives me the look I expected to get with contrast without needing a base or needing to do anything special.  I'm confused by this shade because all the reviews I've seen about it have no complaints.  I guess that happens sometimes.

Deep Truth - This isn't a stand out MAC shadow for me, but I haven't had any trouble using it.  It is one of those MAC shadows that looks better applied than swatched.

Indian Ink -  This shade works much better than it swatches but other than that I don't have a lot of experience with it just yet.

Blackberry - I expected this to look much cooler in tone on me, but I was pleasantly surprised.  It is a really nice transition shade for a change of pace from straight brown shades.

Shadowy Lady - This shadow is super pigmented, so a little goes a very long way.  I like to use it in looks with Satin Taupe and Deep Damson.

Plumage - I decided to try this shade as an alternative to dark brown and black for more interest.  However, I haven't actually been brave enough to give it a try yet.  I'll let you know if that changes.
