Buy This, Not That: Sheer lipstick
The Mac lustre lipstick formula claims to be shiny, nourishing, and weightless with a sheer to medium buildable coverage. It retails for $17.50.
The Sonia Kashuk shine luxe lip color claims to be a sheer balm, hydrating, glossy and performs as a lip treatment. It retails for $10.99.
As you can tell from the claims, both of these products are designed to give you the same effect on the lips. Neither are long wearing, but they are comfortable options especially if you don't like lipgloss but still want a little color and shine. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, I'd recommend the Sonia Kashuk over the Mac. The Sonia Kashuk is $6.51 cheaper than the Mac lipstick and it has a slightly better wear time. The better wear time does come with a slight tackiness to the formula. I don't think it is annoying or uncomfortable, but I'd keep that in mind if it is a concern to you. I also find the Sonia Kashuk formula to be less drying. The Mac doesn't completely dry out my lips or cause any chapping, but if you are looking for moisture, I think the Sonia Kashuk is a better buy. As you can see from the pictures (click to enlarge the image), they give the same look to the lips and they are very similar in color as well.
