L'oreal Colour Riche Mono Eyeshadow Review

This is a new gel-to-powder formula, according to L'oreal.  I don't have experience with a formula like this, but overall don't find it any better than a regular powder eyeshadow.  L'oreal suggests using these with your fingers, so keep that in mind if you prefer to use a brush.  The first time I tried them with a brush they weren't very good.  But the second time I used them, it seemed that they worked better.  So I was thinking that it was because the top layer of product was gone allowing the product to pick up on the brush easier.  But after continued use with both a brush and fingers, I'm not sure that made any difference for 208 Violet Beaute.  I found it really only worked with my fingers to get enough pigment to see the color versus just seeing shimmer on my eyes.  Some days I had no issues and other days it was hard to work with.  I didn't experience as much trouble with 203 Cafe Au Lait, but it definitely applies better with your finger.  I typically use mattes for blending rather than lid color, so it is not ideal for me to have a matte shadow that applies good with fingers.  Unfortunately 203 Cafe Au Lait looked ashy on my skin tone and I don't like using my fingers very often to apply eye shadow.  These just didn't work well for how I like to do my makeup, but if you like using your fingers you may still want to check them out.

These eyeshadows can be found on the L'oreal website for $5.99 each.  L'oreal does have one of the higher price ranges in the drugstore, so I think they gave these a good price point in relation to their other products.  I found these at my local Target for $4.99, so check around for the best price if you want to give them a try.
