Clinique Pop Lip Color + Primer Review
|Showing the lipstick when I purchased it compared to now|
As you can probably tell from the picture, I enjoy this lipstick. It is the Clinique Pop Lip Color + Primer in the color Plum Pop. Clinique claims that this lipstick is weightless, goes on easily, gives full color, has a demi-matte finish, and keeps lips moisturized for 8 hours. I think that they marketed this line well for the most part. This lipstick applies without any tugging on the lips and does feel lightweight. I find it easy to forget I'm wearing this. As for the full color, I have also swatched most of this line of lipsticks in store and I do think that they are all quite opaque in coverage. I have tried grape pop on the lips and it was also opaque. There are some shades that contain shimmer, so if you don't like that, you may want to see these in person before making a purchase. As far as keeping your lips moisturized, since the claim states it will keep you moisturized and not that it will provide moisture, I find this to be true. I think your lips need to already be moisturized, because this will not provide any extra moisture for you. I don't find that it dries my lips out, but it definitely doesn't help if they are already dry.
As far as this having a built in primer, I think that is probably what helps the product go on easily. I don't find that this lipstick lasts any longer than other lipsticks. On me this usually lasts 4 to 5 hours before I feel it could use freshening up. If my lips are dry or chapped, I don't wear this at all because it looks bad, so I'm not sure the primer is doing all that much. I do like this color, but for my skin tone it is a little light, so I do pair it with a brown lip liner. The one aspect I disagree with is the finish. I think this is a standard cream lipstick, I wouldn't call it demi-matte. Regardless, this is one of my most worn lipsticks and I will continue to use it.
The Clinique Pop Lip Color line can be purchased for $18.50 each at Nordstrom.
